AVEVV® for Those Who Serve: Development Before the Crisis
Law enforcement officers and agents. Service members. Firefighters. EMTs and paramedics. Corrections officers. Emergency communications professionals. Emergency and critical-care nurses and clinicians.
Different work. Different uniforms. Different missions. The common ground is a career spent operating where pressure, consequence, responsibility, and other people's worst days are part of the job.
These professions are exceptional at training people to do the work. Far less attention goes to developing the person who has to keep doing it for ten, twenty, or thirty years — and to what that person brings home.
That is the gap AVEVV® for Those Who Serve is built for.
What it is
The same five disciplines at the center of AVEVV — Accountability, Vision, Execution, Vulnerability/Trust, and Values — applied to a very different operating environment. In plain terms, the behavioral logic underneath them:
Notice honestly. See what the work is changing in you early, and own what is yours to change.
Choose intentionally. Decide who you are building beyond the badge, rank, or uniform — and decide it while you are still in the job.
Act repeatedly. Turn intention into small actions practiced every shift until a better response is the default.
Connect honestly. Build relationships where truth can move in both directions — with the people you lead, and with the people you can be honest with when the person carrying it is you.
Stay aligned. Run the same values on duty and at the kitchen table.
Between sessions, the AVEVV Performance Continuum™ puts a small number of specific behaviors into the week already happening. Practice, not homework.
What it is not
AVEVV is coaching, not therapy. We do not diagnose or treat, and we do not ask supervisors to. We partner with licensed counselors and clinicians — many from the first-responder and military communities — and refer early and directly when someone needs more than development. Clinical care where clinically appropriate; AVEVV for the leadership, habits, identity, relationships, and future someone is deliberately building.
Individual conversations are confidential. Nothing is recorded, transcribed, or converted into a management report.
Who it is for
Individuals leading themselves. First-line supervisors — sergeants, company officers, charge nurses, team leaders — whose response to bad news decides whether their people bring the next one. Command staff who need a confidential outside thinking partner. And members approaching the end of a military, law-enforcement, public-safety, or emergency-service career.
How it starts
A Supervisor Readiness Lab. A 90-day Service Readiness Pilot. An agency or organizational partnership. A transition pathway. AVEVV LLC is SAM.gov registered and certified as a Disability-Owned Business Enterprise, and can provide scopes, capability information, and quotes for public-sector procurement.
The profession trains you to do the job. Almost no one trains you to carry it.
